Hockey Alberta Presents Province-Wide Atom 4 on 4 Festivals

Red Deer, Alta – The Atom 4 on 4 Festivals, presented by Source for Sports, are set to kick off on select days this October and November. Hockey Alberta will support eight host locations as over 1400 Atom aged players (9 & 10 year olds) will return to hockey’s roots, playing the game in its purest form, “shinny style hockey.”

The premise of this program is to provide young hockey enthusiasts with the chance to play in a fun, non-competitive environment as well as meet other kids from across their respective hockey zones. Scores are not kept; there are no whistles and no stoppages in play.  The ice is divided into two sections to allow two games to take place at one time. Participants will all receive a jersey along with various other gifts for participating.

 “Based on last year’s success, this event will surely be a big hit with the kids and the parents.  It’s a lot of fun for everyone involved.  The kids get the opportunity to just get out there and play the game as well as meet new friends in a fun atmosphere,” said Hockey Alberta’s Minor Council Chair, John Erkelens.

Hockey Alberta utilizes this event to provide the host Minor Hockey Associations with various tools and information to ensure that the Association can provide its young hockey players with a positive hockey experience.

This year’s Atom 4 on 4 Festivals are being held in Lethbridge, Edmonton, Peace River, Red Water, Millet, Drumheller, Evansburg and Calgary. The first of the Atom 4 on 4 Festivals kicks off this weekend in Lethbridge on Saturday October 17 at 8 a.m.
