Initiation
Teams to be divided equally by level Director

1 evaluation session with teams split out evenly with levelling games after to ensure even teams
Novice
1 practice session then 1 timed skill session .Teams to be split out by level Director for league play. There will also be 1 game to ensure players are at the correct level. There will be further levelling games for tiers with more than 1 team
Rep levels – This year we will be splitting the tryouts for “AA “and “A” levels.
Atom
Note: Tryout positions are preferred positions, does not guarantee player will play at that position.
“AA”
Goalies - 2 skill sessions, top 4 move on (Goalies not in top 4 move on to “A” tryouts)
Players - 1 skill session, 1 evaluation game. Top 30 players + 4 goalies from these sessions advance on to play 1 more evaluation game (players not in the top 30 move on “A” tryouts). After the 2nd evaluation game top 15 players + 5 coaches picks from remaining 15 players and top 3 goalies move on to have 2 more coach evaluated sessions with the coaches to determine final 15 players and final 2 goalies. Coach must justify selections to level director and VP of Programs for final approval of roster.
Note: Coach must have a child in top 15 players or top goalie after 3rd session to be named Head Coach
“A”
Players not making “AA” and additional players only trying out for “A” repeat the same process as “AA” tryouts .Any players not advancing move to tiered house league.
House League
Goalies - 1 skill session

Scoring
- 40% Skill session
- 60% Game evaluations
- Top 5 players and top goalie from evaluations are automatically selected to the team
Pee Wee
“AA”
Goalies - 2 skill sessions, top 4 move on (Goalies not in top 4 move on to “A” tryouts )
Players - 1 skill session, 1 evaluation game. Top 30 players + 4 goalies from these sessions advance on to play 1 more evaluation games (Players not in the top 30 move on “A” tryouts). Top 9 forwards, top 6 defencemen plus 5 coaches picks (3 forwards, 2 defence) from remaining 15 players and top 3 goalies move on to have 2 more coach evaluated sessions with the coaches to determine final 9 forwards and 6 defencemen and final 2 goalies. Coach must justify selections to level director and VP of programs for final approval of roster.

Note: If there is a non parent coach they get to pick entire team

Confidentiality
Results from evaluations are strictly confidential and will not be released to any parents. Level Directors, VP Programs, SMHA President and Coaches for their own level are the only people allowed access to this information and shall keep this information strictly confidential.
Players Missing Evaluations: In the event that a player misses evaluations due to injury or sickness, an evaluation committee appointed by the VP, Programs will assess the player using a variety of measures (previous season play, coach evaluations etc.) to determine where that player will play, keeping in mind that once a team is set it is very hard to change.
